This is the final call for Yolanda Coar. You have been relieved of your earthly duties. Thank you for your dedication and sacrifice. Prayers are with your family and friends during this time.

Augusta University Health is mourning one of its own. Yolanda Coar worked at the Medical Center for 13 years. She lost life her life to COVID-19. Dr. Phillip Coule remembers Yolanda as a leader in the hospital and the community.

“She was a nurse leader, and she was one of those people who was positive in her life,” said Dr. Coule. “In terms of her positive influence on people.”

Coar was remembered as a nurse manager in charge of caring for more than 40 patients a day. Over the weekend, Yolanda died after battling coronavirus.

“The team has been working so incredibly hard to save others from COVID-19,” said Dr. Coule. “To lose a team member from it is difficult for us.”

There is a certain willingness to sacrifice by these men and women who are tasked to keep us safe. The Chief Medical Officer and Vice President says this virus attacks people differently.

“This is an unfortunate reminder in the community that this virus is real, and it affects real people every day,” explained Dr. Coule.

Dr. Coule says Yolanda’s death is a tremendous loss for the team. But he says her legacy will live on at AU as they continue to go by her motto “Be Exceptional!”

“The team is doing well,” said Dr. Coule. “Like any other challenge this incredible team faces every day, they pull together, support each other, and ensure each other we are going to get through this.”

AU is planning something to honor and celebrate the life of Yolanda Coar. Details of that event are still in the works.

The United Elite Family is deeply saddened about the news of the passing of Mrs. Yolanda Coar. Her son played for the UEB K-3rd grade team last season and she was very supportive of the team. She cheered on the players at every game and smiled and laughed with them during team practices. She was willing to help when needed and stepped in as back up team manager. Please keep Mr. Coar and their two boys in prayer. We send condolences to Mrs. Yolanda’s family and friends.

Another life lost too soon to Covid-19. Please keep this family in your prayers.

God be with Yolanda Coar and her family. What an amazing lady – so grateful, so kind, so determined to make the world a better place. It was a privilege to work alongside her. Prayers for her two little boys and husband. #yolandastrong

I’m so sorry for the loss of Ms Yolanda Coar to the preventable Coronavirus19 disease. May Ms Coar R.I.P. We appreciate that she worked to help ppl during her lifetime. Our thoughts & prayers are with her, her family & her co-workers.

It’s truly heartbreaking to read about the death of your co-worker. It is infuriating that it happens at the same time that 250k bozos are congregating in the small town of Sturgis SD, without any concern for people like you and Yolanda Coar Who put your life on the line. RIP.

A nurse here in Augusta named Yolanda Coar passed away from COVID over the weekend. I met her during my internship last year and I remember thinking she was the nicest, funniest lady. Please give what you can to the GFM for her husband & two children

We are still working on getting more details about the death, as family statement on the death is yet to be released.
