Walter Martinez of Mexico dies in Otay Mesa big rig accident

Walter Lopez Martinez Death – Cause of Death : 27-year-old Walter Lopez Martinez, of Mexico, has been identified by the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office as the victim that died in a motorcycle accident that occurred on Monday morning in Otay Mesa, California. The motorcycle crash occurred at approximately 6:30 a.m. on Monday, December 6, 2021, on Siempre Viva Road close to Customhouse Plaza.

According to officials, Martinez was operating his motorcycle eastbound in the 9200 block of Siempre Viva Road near Customhouse Plaza behind a tractor-trailer. Eventually, the big rig made a left U-turn in front of Martinez’s motorcycle causing Martinez to slam into the axle of the big rig, overturn onto the roadway and went underneath the big rig.

Following the crash, Martines sustained major injuries and was transported to Scripps Mercy Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Meanwhile, the 53-year-old male driver of the big rig was not hurt.

The crash remains under investigation.

Walter Lopez Martinez’s obituary will be released by his family.
