Virginia State Police seeks tips in I-664 Shooting in Hampton

I-664 Shooting – The Virginia State Police is investigating a shootout that occurred Saturday, December 18th, 2021, at approximately 12:46 p.m. officials received multiple reports about two vehicles involved in an interstate shooting that led to both vehicles crashing in the southbound lanes at Powhatan Parkway.

Preliminary investigations with the assistance of several eyewitnesses, determined that a gray 2011 Hyundai Sonata and a dark blue 2011 Dodge Journey SUV were traveling south on I-664 when the shooting sprang out, as the vehicles continued southbound, they collided with one another, spun out, and struck the Jersey walls on both sides of the interstate.

Eyewitnesses observed several males exit the Hyundai and flee on foot from the scene. A 24-year-old male was was transported to Riverside Regional Medical Center  by medics for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. The Virginia State Police is urging the community or any witnesses driving in the area of Interstate 664, in the vicinity of Powhatan Parkway prior to, or after the incident, who may have possible information to come forth.
