Victims of pedestrian accident on Lulworth Road in Birkdale identified

79-year-old Marie Cunningham and 85-year-old Grace Foulds, a resident of Palatine Road have been identified as the two friends that lost their lives after they were struck by a car while out on evening walks. The accident happened on Tuesday, November 30, 2021, at about 4.55 pm on Lulworth Road in Birkdale,
Southport, Merseyside.

According to report, the two pensioners were walking on Lulworth Road when they were both struck by a white Audi A3. Following the crash, the two elderly women sustained injuries and were rushed to the hospital where they succumbed to their injuries. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene of the crash and cooperated with authorities.

Both families have paid heartwarming tributes to the women.

“It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our special mum, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and aunty, Marie (Mary) Cunningham.
“Marie was an amazing person who lived for and loved her family and will be missed every day.m”Our family would like to thank the members of the public who stopped to give first aid and assistance to Marie and Grace at the time of the incident.”

“It is with deep sadness that Caroline Clarke and Victor Foulds announce the tragic and sudden death of their mother Grace Foulds, aged 85.
“Grace, who lived on Palatine Road, was a popular member of the Birkdale community as well as a regular at St Joseph’s Church. She will be sadly missed by all her family and many friends.
“Our family wish to pass their thanks to the emergency services and staff at Southport Hospital.”
