Vicente Fernandez Dead, Mexican singer and King of Ranchera dies at 81

Vicente Fernandez Cause of Death – Passed Away: Veteran Mexican singer, actor and film producer, Vicente Fernandez has died. Vicente Fernandez passed away on Sunday, December 12 at 6:15 a.m. at a hospital in Guadalajara, Mexico. He was 81 years old. No cause of death has been made public. Fernandez was best known as “the king” of ranchera music.

StarLink mourned the “unexpected passing” of veteran Mexican singer, actor and film producer, Vicente Fernandez, in a statement shared on their Twitter page.

“RIP Don #VicenteFernandez from the $STARL family. A Legendary Voice that will never be forgotten. A unique voice fades, a man who brought music to all corners of the planet. A hug with all affection to your family. Give him Master! RIP #Chente”

Fernandez has previously faced numerous health issues, including liver and prostate cancer. He was born in 1940 in Huentitán El Alto, just outside of Guadalajara. He dropped fifth grade and relocated to Tijuana, where he worked as a waiter, janitor, and dishwasher.

He eventually returned to Guadalajara and began busking at local mariachi plazas. He joined with CBS Records in 1966, where he began his recording career. Popular originals by Fernández include “Volver Volver,” “Mujeres Divinas,” “Por Tu Maldito Amor,” and “Aca Entre Nos.” Beginning in the 1970s with Tacos Al Carbón, he starred in a string of films.

The death of Vicente Fernandez has been the death of an artist that has affected me the most. Grew up listening to his music. Watching his movies when they came up on tv with my grandma were always a must. The respect and admiration I have for this great man is so massive.

He was rated one of the best Latin performers of all time by Billboard. Fernández has three Grammys and nine Latin Grammys to her name. Hits like Volver and El Rey became anthems, connecting them to their families, traditions, and the nation they had left behind. In 1998, Fernández was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

No plans have been announced for Vicente Fernandez obituary and funeral yet.
