Two injured in officer involved incident in Commerce

Detectives with the Commerce City Police Department are investigating an officer-involved shooting incident near the 7th Avenue intersection that left two persons injured Monday night.

The incident happened at about 6:15 p.m. Officials responded to the scene at Brighton Boulevard and 75th Avenue on a report of an alleged DUI driver in the northbound lanes. Arriving officers and encountered a person in the car who then fired multiple shots at them, police says.

A police chase ensued and ended after the car crashed a few blocks away from the shooting scene, according to Commerce City Police Department. At about 8:45 p.m. two men were transported to the hospital in a stable condition.

Investigations remain active.
