South Plains Shooting – Police in Lubbock are seeking for the unknown gunman who fired multiple shots inside South Plains Mall Sunday evening that left two individuals wounded. The incident prompted an immediate evacuation of shoppers from the mall.

According to Lubbock Police, the incident was reported at about 5:35 p.m. Shoppers were evacuated from the mall, the shooting happened in a common area inside the mall

Lubbock police Lt. Leath McClure said,

The shooting happened in a common area inside the mall. “I would say it was between … maybe Dillards and the cinema., this is an isolated incident. “The shooter is obviously still not in custody but there’s no further threat at the mall.” Two people suffered minor injuries, one person was grazed by a bullet while another was injured while leaving.

Officials say the shooting was an isolated event and no threat to the public. No physical description of the shooter was immediately released.
