Ok. Lordt. @CapehartJ really took me through it with “The Bye Line” dedication for his mentor and friend, Fred Hyatt. May Fred’s memory live on.

Before joining the editorial page in 1996, Hyatt worked as a Post reporter covering regional politics and national security for 15 years, as well as a correspondent in Tokyo and Moscow. His administration was not without controversy. Hyatt was later chastised by his opponents for taking the lead in the Iraq conflict.

May 2020. An urgent plea to The GOP. Not the writers first. RIP Fred Hyatt from the Wash. Post. We are still critical. The US is still under siege internally. #US #extremism #ultrarightwing #GOP Still watching it happen. Are you waiting for militias at your door to stop it?

According to the daily, three columnists who worked under Hyatt’s supervision received the Pulitzer Prize for commentary: Colbert I. King in 2003, Eugene Robinson in 2009, and Kathleen Parker in 2010. Hyatt has been a three-time Pulitzer Prize finalist for editorial writing.

Fred Hyatt obituary and funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date by his family.
