So many emotions tonight. This picture tells a story. My #24 and the rest of the HC Tigers team listening to their coach Tommy Parks after a game with my favorite Coach Danny Durham in the huddle. Tonight Coach Parks and Danny are drawing X’s and O’s together in Heaven. The Durham family is so thankful that Coach Parks hired Danny in 2012 and HC became our HOME.
We are praying for all the family.
RIP Coach Tommy Parks. I never played with a more fierce competitor and his influence on me as a teammate at LBW in the early 90s carried me through then and will last a life time. So young and so sad. Prayers with his family and everyone he inspired.
I was sitting here thinking of what I was going to say and then my son Jonathan Thompson posted these words which sums it all up! Rest in Peace my friend….
Throughout each of our times’ on earth God puts people in our lives to help change and mold us. For me and many others there are people like your parents, grandparents, wives, and children who help make you who you are, but each of them have certain times where their impact is greater than others. From the time I met Coach Parks, Tommy, TP he changed me. I have never had someone change roles in my life, and change me every step of the way. He went from my coach in school, to the head coach I worked for, to a father figure, to a friend, and he eventually became my best friend. He taught me so much about not just football but about life, and how to be a man. How to carry yourself everyday, and how to work to provide for a brighter future. I can say that he is one of the main reasons I gained a brother, helped me realize I have the greatest wife I could ever ask for, got my college degree and future profession, and there is no doubt I would not be in the situation I am today without TP. I have so many memories with this man, and the thought of him being gone brings me heartache. BUT I know what TP wanted , and that was to impact and that he did! As a former player of mine and TP’s just text me, “Only thing I know we can do now is continue to build on what he instilled in us!” Love you TP , and I promise to always carry your messages to so many more!
It’s a sad day for the Upson-Lee family! Coach Tommy Parks touched so many lives throughout his coaching career. He was a pillar in the Thomaston community and will be tremendously missed. May his memory live on in every young person he coached along his journey. Prayers for Carmen, Carson, Lisa, and the rest of the Parks and Dover families. UL’s loss is heaven’s gain!
