Ar dheis Dé go raibh a name.

It is with deep regret that the club learned this morning of the death of Tom “Gawny” Walsh, originally from Bishopswater in Wexford. Gawny hurled for the Harriers and kicked for St Josephs in his younger days. He has the distinction of winning Leinster Minor medals at hurling and football, in 1968 with the small ball and 1969 with the big ball. He was part of the last Wexford minor hurling panel to win an All Ireland title in 1968. His work later took him to many counties, spending a number of years in Cork before settling and raring his family in Cavan. While his real love was greyhounds and coursing, he maintained his interest in hurling and had management spells with the Cavan, Monaghan and Fermanagh adult hurlers. He never forgot his roots and was a frequent visitor back to Wexford to visit his late mother Nancy, and his many other relatives on Slaneyside. Gawny is mourned by his wife Ita, children Andrea, Karen, Damien and Nicholas, by his brothers Nicky and Eugene and by his many other relatives and friends. Gawny is also nephew to Club President Kevin Murphy, to Dick Murphy and Monica Keeling and first cousin to club officers Nicky Keeling and Richard Murphy. On behalf of his many friends and family within the Harriers, we pass on our condolences at this sad time. May He Rest In Peace,
