Tom Relleen Death – Obituary | Dead – Passed Away
Tom Relleen Death – Dead: A great loss was made known to InsideEko. As friends and families of the deceased are mourning the passing of their loved and cherished Tom Relleen.
The news that our friend Tom Relleen has passed away has left our hearts heavy with an endless and unfathomable sadness. A member of Tomaga, Papivores and The Oscillation, Tom was the artist with whom we have collaborated the most by a long way: we have released eight albums doted with his unique trademark. Tom was a collaborator and a talented musician who fought with passion and integrity for an honest and meticulous musical vision. To us, he was first and foremost a true friend, someone extremely inspiring with whom we shared so much, someone doted with an incredible sense of generosity and creativity, and who always radiated warmth. His discography and unfaltering activism in service of the arts are essential components of Hands in the Dark’s DNA.
Without him, our modest label wouldn’t have become what it is today. Without him, what we do will never be the same again…He was like the third member of our team.
Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones.
Au revoir et merci pour tout, Tom.
Tom Relleen (Tomaga, Papivores, The Oscillation, Autotelia) has passed out brutally and we already miss him sorely. His passing is above all a drama that sees a 42-year-old guy at the top of his art leaving way too soon, broke by cancer. Tomaga has always been considered by GMD, half of whom Tom formed alongside Valentina Magaletti, as one of the most exciting bands on the current scene: this kind of project that constantly reinvents itself to get out of its area comfort and give birth to hybrid discs, unpredictable but never arrogant. There is no doubt that Tom will be the subject of a true cult and that such essential records as The Shape of The Dance, Memory in Vivo Exposure or Death and Spring will be considered experimental music classics tomorrow, at same track as some Neu albums!, This Heat, Swans or Brian Eno. But it makes us a beautiful leg, because listening to all this great music will always feel a huge emptiness thinking about the one he will never write.
Unfortunately one of our most beloved musicians & agents Tom Relleen passed away over the weekend.
An absolute linchpin of everything we do, be it performing in bands like Tomaga, The Oscillation & Autotelia or being the booking agent for Acid Mothers Temple Official, Bardo Pond, Silver Apples and many others.
It’s a real deep loss for the London music scene and very sad day for all of us. All our love to his friends, family & band mates.
Truly shocked and saddened to hear of the passing of Tom Relleen. An incredibly gifted musician who made some brilliant records with Tomaga, The Oscillation and Autotelia (amongst many others), and more importantly, a kind-hearted and generous man. This photo was taken around this time last year when Tom played some records for us for a few hours. I remember I bought Pitch’s ‘What Am I Gonna Do For Fun’ on his recommendation. I’ll be playing that again now in his honour. All of our love to Tom’s family and friends. Rest in power xx
We are still working on getting more details about the death, as a family statement on the death is yet to be released.
