Tom Cunningham Cause of Death – Passed Away: KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — E Tom Cunningham, who worked extensively at the University of Tennessee Medical Center before joining Blount Memorial Hospital in January, has passed away. Tom Cunningham died from Covid-19 complications on Sunday evening, November 28, 2021. Tom Cunningham was admitted to Blount Memorial Hospital on November 20th, according to reports.
Stephanie Cunningham, Tom’s wife, stated that both of them were admitted to the ICU after being diagnosed with COVID-19. She also stated that Tom was put on a ventilator and was given antibiotics while recovering from the coronavirus.
Ronnie Speeks posted on Facebook, “For those Facebook friends who may know E. Thomas Cunningham, it’s with great sadness that I post his lovely wife’s update. Tom was an ETA in Knoxville. He also worked for UTMC for years and more recently Blount Memorial. He was truly one of the kindest, giving people you could ever meet. He will be missed by many. RIP E. Thomas Cunningham and prayers for you dear Stephanie”
Tom Cunningham enticed patients at Blount Memorial by wearing costumes as Elvis Presley, bringing smiles to people who were going through a difficult time. Since around 2013, he has been known as “Resident Elvis” at UT Medical Center. He used to be a member of the UTMC custodial staff.
