Teenager killed on Hwy 72, Lumberton motorcycle accident

North California: On Thursday, December 9, N.C. State Highway Patrol reported a bike-car accident that claimed the life of a 14-year-old man around 6:45 a.m. According to report, the accident happened on State Highway 72 near Lumberton and roughly 95 miles southwest of Raleigh.

The preliminary investigation stated that the teenager was riding his bicycle in a “proper lane,” when his motorcycle was hit by a vehicle driven by a 41-year-old Lumberton woman. It was reported that the teen was wearing a helmet during the time of the accident.

Authorities pronounced the motorcyclist dead at the scene. The Lumberton woman was present at the scene when the police arrived. She was charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle.

The crash is still under investigation by the police.
