Badger High School Shooting – A teen has been taken into custody following a threat to shoot up a Wisconsin school in the City of Lake Geneva Friday, the school was confirmed to be Badger High School.
According to the City of Lake Geneva Police Department, charges for Terrorist threats are going to be referred against a juvenile to the Walworth County District Attorney’s Office following the incident which started when the resource officer at Badger High School learned there was going to be a school shooting at approximately 11 a.m. and 11:35 a.m. inside the school campus Friday.
Investigators say the officer discovered that a message was circulated from an unknown number to students threatening to shoot up the high school. Detectives with the City of Lake Geneva Police tracked the number to a teenager in the Town of Geneva.
Investigators interviewed the teen, who told them that they sent “threatening text messages to a friend as a ‘joke’ and was only trying to scare this friend,” The teen also tried to hide the cell phone from detectives when they arrived at the teen’s home.
The identity of the teen was not immediately released. The investigation remains active.
