Teen, 17, injured in road-rage shooting in I-45, Greenspoint area

I-45 Shooting – Deputies with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office are investigating a road rage incident on the North Freeway that left a 17-year-old girl injured Friday afternoon.

The incident happened at about 2:50 p.m. Friday. The Harris County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office was investigating an incident in a parking lot near the intersection of I-45 and Airtex when another car drove into the parking lot with its horn honking.

Officials inspected the vehicle and located a man inside, who stated that his girlfriend had been shot by a drive-by vehicle. The 17-year-old teenage girl was seen suffering from two gunshot wounds to the upper body. She was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital Northwest, where she was listed in a stable condition. She has been taken in for immediate surgery

The vehicle’s window had about four bullet holes. Preliminary investigations determined the driver had gotten onto the North Freeway near West Road, then got into a road rage situation with the driver of a Black Toyota Forerunner.

The car driver said he didn’t know the Forerunner driver, but the two got into a dispute over lanes, the altercations escalated to the driver of Forerunner opening fire into the driver’s side but striking the passenger. A gun was located in the boyfriend’s car and police are investigating whether he returned fire.

No arrests have been made and no suspect information was immediately given.
