Susan John Cause of Death – Passed way: Rochester, NY., — 64-year-old Susan John, a former Rochester assemblywoman, passed away on Monday. Susan died in Florida after a battle with cancer, according to reports. Susan served as a Rochester assemblywoman for over 20 years.

Senator Shelley Mayer posted on Facebook, “Assemblywoman Susan John was a passionate, smart & brave elected leader, chair of the Labor Committee, and powerful voice in the Assembly. She will be missed.”

Susan John was born in Chicago on November 20, 1957. She attended Syracuse University College of Law and practiced business and commercial law before entering politics. She was well-known for her advocacy of women’s rights. Susan John was a friend and mentor. She was a trailblazer in the New York State Assembly fighting for children, women and workers.

“Susan John was a strong, fierce, intelligent and passionate woman who served successfully at a time when there were so few women in government. She was my first mentor & taught me so much. She will be missed dearly.”
