Sudbury, Ontario senator Josee Forest-Niesing dies at 56

Josee Forest-Niesing Cause of Death: OTTAWA – Ontario senator and lawyer Josee Forest-Niesing, who lived in Sudbury, Ontario, has sadly passed away. Josee Forest-Niesing died following a battle with Covid-19 complications. She was 56 years old when she died.

Senator Forest-Niesing returned to her home on Saturday, November 14, after being admitted to Sudbury’s Health Sciences North hospital with the virus in October. She was fully vaccinated against Covid-19, according to reports, but was considered especially vulnerable due to an autoimmune condition that had affected her lungs for the previous 15 years.

“Our sincere condolences to family, friends and the entire Francophone community for the deeply sad death of Senator Josée Forest-Niesing.”

Senator Forest-Niesing also belonged to several associations that promoted access to French-language legal services across Canada. She had represented Ontario in the Senate since October 2018.
