It is with great sadness that we report to you that former WCC member Steve Moger sadly passed away recently.
Steve was a member at Warwick CC in the early 2000’s, he was introduced to Warwick by Tony Sarson as they knew each other professionally through work.
Steve was a bowler & for some years was a regular team member in the Saturday 3rd XI. When he stopped playing senior cricket he qualified as an Umpire & was the Club Umpire for the Saturday 2nd XI.
Steve also took his coaching qualifications & became involved with the juniors section assisting Jamie Harding with the younger age groups. This was something that he really enjoyed & he was popular as a team manager for the under 11’s.
Even though he has not been actively involved at the club for the last few years, he would occasionally call in whilst out on his Motorbike to say hello to the people he remembered from his active days at the club.
The company & colleagues that Steve worked with wish to donate a bench to the club in his memory. It is hoped that it will be placed somewhere around the ground perhaps by the scorebox or nets.
Next time we are at the club, let’s make sure we raise a glass or bottle in Steve’s memory.
Our thoughts are with his family and those that knew him.
Please feel free to share your fond memories of Steve.
We are still working on getting more details about the death, as family statement on the death is yet to be released.
