Rest Peacefully Simon

So sad to learn of the passing of a true gentleman, Simon Wyn Edwards, who died of cancer last evening. 🙁
If you went to any events around town, you would have likely seen him with his camera shooting for Snapd Windsor. He was so kind, thoughtful and talented, always a smile on his face and it’s horrible to think he’s been snatched away from life, love and his dear family.
He moved here from England 19 years ago after meeting his true love online and made a brand new life for himself.
He will be sorely missed.
Life and death sucks sometimes

I am in shock and deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Simon Wyn Edwards. Those of us that were lucky enough to know Simon saw that he was not just a great photographer, but an incredible community minded, compassionate and charismatic person. Regardless of where you were, how your day was going and what kind of a mood you were in, your spirits were lifted when you spotted Simon. He had a way of making you feel at ease simply by just being himself. I had the pleasure of many chats with him on many topics and each time we talked he brought a sense of balance and humour to the conversation. While I have many memories to draw from, the one that stands out is the time we were attempting to get some festive photos for the Holiday Cards I send out in December. We were outdoors on the coldest night of the year and Simon’s camera stopped working because of the extreme cold. He joked about how his hands and feet, as well as mine, were going to suffer the same fate as his camera if we didn’t pack it in and reschedule the photo shoot to another night. I think this memory stands out for me because it speaks to his dedication to his work, his craft, as well as his sense of humour and ability to turn a difficult situation (being outside during record cold temperatures and his camera freezing) into something to laugh about. While Simon was skillful at taking head shots and posed photos, he was also masterful at making you laugh or getting you talking and capturing the candid moments. Unfortunately my photos are on a different computer so I can’t share one of the moments Simon captured as he made me chuckle about something he said. Thank you Simon for the gift of you. Rest well. You will be dearly missed my friend.
