John Michael Hayden Missing: Silver alert issued for missing man with dementia canceled
A 76-year-old man with dementia who was reported missing in the Salt Lake City area, prompting a Silver Alert, has been located and is safe. Salt Lake City police say the Silver alert for missing, at-risk Provo man has been canceled.
According to Provo officer Shad Lefever, John Michael Hayden was located just after 11:40 a.m. Sunday at a homeless shelter in Salt Lake City. No further details were released.

76-year-old John Michael Hayden was last seen early Thursday morning around midnight and was considered at-risk by police. authorities are growing increasingly worried for his welfare and are asking the public to help lookout for him.
Hayden had been last seen in the Salt Lake City area where he was supposed to return on a bus to his assisted living center in Provo but never arrived. the authorities classified him as at risk due to his dementia, neuropathy, and disability of the hands.
According to the alert Hayden lives in Provo, but his last known location was the Salt Lake County Jail, His destination was unknown. Officials did not state whether he was being held at the jail or if he was there for another reason.
Police said Hayden has dementia, neuropathy (nerve damage), and disability with his hands. He is also reportedly suicidal and “violent with law enforcement.” He is described as a white man, 5’8″ tall, weighing 220 pounds, with gray hair and green eyes.
Police said he has “recent” cuts or scars on his left wrist. It was not known what clothing he was last seen wearing.
