Shelter in place following shooting in West Eaton Rapids

Eaton Rapids Shooting – Authorities say a shelter-in-place has been declared for residents of west Eaton Rapids near East Five Point Highway between Canfield and Freeman’s roads following a shooting incident in the area.

According to Eaton County’s 911 alert system, the shelter in place was ordered due to a threat in the area at about 11:10 a.m. Wednesday. Multiple law enforcement agencies are responding to the area as investigations are at their peak. The routes to the west Eaton Rapids have been blocked to traffic as officials investigate.

According to Eaton County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Jerri Nesbitt, there was a shooting in that area at about 11:20 a.m. Wednesday that it was still an active scene and investigation and more information.
