Seven migrants killed, three injured in Serbian border, Hungary car accident

Driver arrested after vehicle killed seven persons and injured three

At least seven persons have lost their lives and four others injured in a car accident that occurred in Hungary on Monday evening.

According to a report released by the police, a vehicle with 10 migrants was traveling in the village of Morahalom, on getting near the Serbian border and having seen police at the checkpoint, the driver increased the speed to run from the police. It was reported that the vehicle was heading to the town of Szeged when the accident happened. The vehicle moved at a high rate of speed and crashed into a house.

The impact of the accident caused the vehicle to overturn. Seven persons died at the scene while four were injured. The identity of the deceased persons was not immediately released pending the notification of their next of kin. The driver of the vehicle who also got injured from the accident was detained and proceedings against him would be launched for people trafficking and causing a fatal mass accident.

The accident is still under investigation.
