Search Underway For Missing 2-year-old Child In Bartholomew County

Emma Sweet Missing: Girl still missing after dad was located.

Search is ongoing for a missing 2-year-old girl after her missing dad’s pickup was found in Bartholomew County river. Deputies in Bartholomew County are asking for help from the public in locating the missing girl, as they are searching for her and they are growing increasingly worried for her welfare.

It is believed that 2-year-old Emma Sweet and her dad were last seen on Wednesday, November 24, 2021. authorities said Emma is still missing after her father who was also reported missing this week was found in a pickup submerged in a river on Friday.

The Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) was dispatched to the east fork of the White River, off of State Road 11 South, on Friday at 6 a.m., in regards to a truck that had been located by duck hunters. The vehicle was actually submerged in the water with one occupant near a farm lane at the end of Beatty Lane. The man was taken by EMS to Columbus Regional Health where he is being treated for exposure to hypothermia.

The Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office said deputies learned Sweet was with her father, but investigators do not know if she was in the vehicle when the duck hunters found the pickup.

The child, Emma Sweet is described as having brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing all black clothing and a cream-colored jacket with butterflies on it.

BCSO Chief Deputy Chris Lane said Indiana State Police, DNR, and all local police, fire, and emergency agencies are all out looking for the girl. “We want to thank everyone who is helping us try to find Emma Sweet. It’s important that the community comes together to help”.
