Reed has been charged with murder-domestic violence, tampering with physical evidence, abuse of a corpse, fleeing or evading police, criminal mischief, wanton endangerment, careless driving, resisting arrest, and having no operator’s license. Reed is said to have been traveling in Madison County when the police were notified that he was swerving in the traffic, as stated in the citation that led to his arrest. After pausing for a moment, he took off running. The law enforcement officers were eventually successful in bringing him to a stop on Interstate 75 in Laurel County.

They found Carder’s body inside of a plastic tote when they were searching through Reed’s SUV. They claim that there was facial damage as well as other injuries to her body, including evidence that something on her body was caused by an edged weapon. According to the police, Reed had what seemed to be crimson blood streaks on him. Reed allegedly admitted to fighting with Carder in a hotel room near the highway, but he did not specify where in the hotel room the incident took place, according to the police.
