56-year-old Prairieville man died in motorcycle accident on La. 44

According to the Louisiana State Police, a 56-year-old Prairieville man has lost his life from injuries suffered after he rear-ended a pickup truck. The incident happened on Thursday morning, December 2, 2021, at approximately 5:30 a.m. on La. 44, north of US Hwy 61 in Ascension Parish, Louisiana. The man died of severe injuries sustained from the accident.

According to officials, the man was operating a 2005 Harley Davidson Sportster southbound on La Hwy 44 when he failed to stop his motorcycle and rear-ended a 2010 GMC Sierra. The man sustained serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash after succumbing to his injuries. He was wearing an approved helmet at the time of the crash. The driver of the pickup truck came out of the crash unhurt. He wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

Toxicology samples were collected from both drivers. The crash remains under investigation.
