Police fatally shoots man who overturned cars, damaged a home with Backhoe

New Jersey Shooting – The New Jersey Attorney General’s office say officials shot and killed a man in a mobile home park in Vineland, New Jersey Saturday morning after the man used a backhoe to overturn several cars, including both a police SUV and an ambulance and a civilian sedan, and also damaged a home.

According to the department, the incident happened at about 5 a.m. Saturday at the Penn Lincoln Mobile Home Park and a nearby retirement community. Other wrecked cars included another police SUV and a civilian sedan, both with major damages and the front porch of a home was also destroyed in the incident.

“I feel so bad for her, she was upset and crying,” The backhoe also ripped a hole in the front of the home “It’s Christmas!” It’s like a hurricane came through here, just total destruction.” said neighbor Diane Trout

The suspect was then shot to death by officials with the Vineland Police Department after an encounter. What led to the shooting death was not immediately disclosed and the department did not say if the man fired any shots at officers. Three police officers suffered minor injuries.

The Attorney General’s office said the  unidentified man was pronounced dead at the scene. The AG’s office is investigating, and the Vineland Police Department, and New Jersey State Police Department are investigating the incident.
