Pierre Légaré, a comedian who convinced the Quebecers and the entire Francophonie for decades with his puns, puns, and jokes in the form of existential questions, has sadly passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2021. He died suddenly at the age of 72.
His family announced his death in a statement with the press that, “We would like to inform you of the death of comedian Pierre Légaré, which occurred on Tuesday, October 5. Surrounded by his family, he died peacefully in St-Jean-sur-Richelieu, ” they said.
Pierre was born on June 2, 1949, Pierre Légaré, certainly, one of our most brilliant comedians became known for his subtle, intelligent, and deadpan humor.
His pattern of comedy always made a specialty of asking questions about life and its quirks, about the why of things. He has made a specialty of asking questions about life and its quirks, about the why of things.
Pierre obtained a master’s degree in psychology from the University of Sherbrooke.
Also, he made a career as a psychologist before setting foot in the entertainment business in the late 1970s.
Légaré wrote for radio (“Le festival de humor”) and television
In 1988, this eternal keen-eyed mocker decided to write his own show, his first, and take the stage solo.
His most famous quotes have been published in a small volume, titled “Mots de Tête”, launched here and in Europe, and in other books, called “Les Trois Premiers Coups” and “Rien”. He signed two plays (“Waiter!”, “It’s not a siphon, it’s my brother”). His word games have also been shown on television, with short capsules of a few seconds, also called “Mots de Tête”, which have earned him a Guinness record for the shortest television program in the world, and for which he was an animator and designer.
He is survived by his wife and three children, “for whom his departure leaves an immense void”, and who “ask you to respect their desire to live this trying period in complete privacy”, indicates the press release.
His funeral arrangements have not been officially released by his family.
