I was incredibly lucky in grade 11 to spend a day job shadowing Peter Silverman. He was incredibly kind and generous and took me all over the city with him that day. He showed me that stubbornness is a gift! He was a legend and will be missed @CityNews

I am at a bit of a loss for words right now having *just* found out, but will say Peter Silverman and that segment ‘Silverman Helps’ are staples in my mind. I loved to see people do the right thing/make things right. It’s what the world needs. Rest Peter. We’ll take it from here.

Sad to learn about the death of Toronto broadcasting great Peter Silverman. Peter was one of the early @GlobalNews reporters when our network went to air in 1974. Thinking of his family, friends, and colleagues here at Global, and at @CityNews where his storied career continued. pic.twitter.com/FzCo6Qzegm
