Peter Burns Missing: Police launch an appeal for missing Meath man
According to a report reaching us, the family of an Irishman missing in Denmark are appealing for the public’s help in finding him as a police launch an investigation. 29-year-old Peter Burns had been socializing with colleagues in a pub on Saturday night and was last seen leaving the Danish city of Aarhus on Sunday morning.
Peter Burns, from Dunboyne in Co Meath, has been missing in the Danish city of Aarhus since early on Sunday morning. He is understood to have left the bar at Jaegergardsgade between midnight and 1 am and then began walking home in the direction of the harbour.
East Jutland Police received a report on Sunday night that the 29-year-old man was missing, his sister Katie who he was staying with called the police after he did not return to the apartment.
Peter is described as around 5’9″ tall, of strong build, and with short brown hair and a short brown/reddish full beard. He was wearing a large, black winter jacket, dark cowboy pants and carrying a large, heavy backpack when he was last seen.
His sister Katie, along with local police, have launched an appeal on social media for help in finding the young man.
Police said in a statement: “East Jutland Police ask all shop owners on Stroget and surrounding streets to check any surveillance videos from midnight and approx. three hours ahead the night between Saturday and Sunday to see if Peter has passed by.
The East Jutland Police have been looking for Peter since Sunday evening. On Monday morning, the search is concentrated around Aarhus Island, where the police lead with dogs. In addition, the police have requested assistance from the East Jutland Fire Brigade’s diving emergency services.
Peter’s friend and former colleague Ian Daly, who worked with him at Dunboyne Castle and Sidewalk Catering, described him as a chef who is “dedicated to his profession. For Peter not to have turned up for work, that is the most worrying part. That is so out of character for him,” He added that Peter had been living in Denmark for almost two months and had just started a new job at a French bistro.
