Paul Dresser Obituary – Death: “Legendary Flint soccer coach Paul Dresser being remembered as “phenomenal guy”
Longtime Carman and Carman-Ainsworth coach Paul Dresser has passed away. Paul Dresser, 75, also known as P-Daddy, Flushing, Michigan, died on Wednesday of an apparent heart attack.
“The former Carman-Ainsworth soccer coach was a true pioneer, forming the first soccer program in the Flint area back in 1972 and spending 35 years coaching both the boys and girls.”
Paul Dresser was born May 30, 1946 in Wheaton, Illinois. He played soccer at Greenville University in Illinois and moved to Michigan to obtain his Masters degree at Eastern Michigan.
Dresser formed a football team at Carman High School in 1972 and football became a boys’ college sport in 1975. Girls’ college football was added in 1985 and Dresser coached both teams until his retirement in 2007.
He coached 1,127 games at Carman and Carman-Ainsworth in addition to being a physical education instructor at Dye Elementary School and Carman-Ainsworth Middle School.
After his retirement, Dresser would often show up for Cavaliers training or to watch former players like Witham in games 30 and over.
Below are the reactions from friends and other affected persons.
