Paddy Garrity, one of the trade unionists who founded the Footscray Community Arts Centre, secretary of the Unemployed Workers Union in Tassie in the 1980s, has died of COVID-19 in an aged care home in Melbourne’s west. He was 83.

Very sad to tell you all of the passing of Paddy Garritty. A fixture and legend of Trades Hall.

Before this pandemic, I took him on a tour of the Trades Hall restoration and he had tears in his eyes. He loved the place.
