Off-duty officer injured, suspect killed in shooting outside a Queens club

NYPD Shooting – Authorities are investigating after an off-duty NYPD lieutenant was shot outside a Queens club at the early hours of Thursday.

According to the New York City Police Department, the gunman also sustained gunshot injuries, and was transported to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The shooting started at approximately 3:12 a.m. outside club La Boom, near the the intersection of 57th Street and Northern Boulevard in the Woodside section of the city.

The exchange of gunfire commenced following an altercation between the suspect and the off-duty officer. The unnamed off-duty officer sustained multiple gunshot injuries and was transported to an area hospital in a very critical condition.

The department did not disclose the identity of the deceased suspect or the injured officer. More details of what led to the shooting were not immediately known elaborated.
