29-year-old woman found shot to death inside North Galewood home

Authorities say an off-duty Chicago police officer has been arrested Thursday morning after a 29-year-old woman was found shot to death inside a home in Galewood on the Northwest Side.

Officials from the Chicago Police Department responded to the home in the 2100 block of North Nashville Avenue at approximately 10:10 a.m. for a well-being check. On arriving at the residence, they discovered an adult woman’s remains with a gunshot wound to the head. The identity of the 29-year-old woman was not immediately released.

The officer was taken into custody at the scene and was being questioned by Area Five detectives. The officer has been relieved of his police powers.

Sources said the officer had a child with the woman, who had filed a complaint against the officer in the past alleging domestic violence.
