Jelani Day, 25-years-old, a student of Illinos State University, was found death in the Illinos River near Peru, a far southwest Chicago suburb.
According to Police the circumstances around his disappearance and death is suspicious.
Bloomington Police public information officer John Fermon said last month that “it’s unusual, the way his vehicle was, it wasn’t deep into the woods but it was off a parking lot.”

The article stated that, Day’s corpse had no eyeballs, was missing its front top and bottom teeth. Reportedly, his organs were liquefied and his body had suffered bites from fish and turtles.
Jelani’s mother in a statement on Monday, pushed back against the speculation that his organs were missing.
She also said her son did not put himself in the river but rather he was murdered and her goal is to found out what happened and hold those responsible accountable. Read the statement.
