Journalist Monica Roberts Death – Dead | Obituary – Passed Away
Monica Roberts Death – Dead: A great loss was made known to InsideEko. As friends and families of the deceased are mourning the passing of their loved and cherished Monica Roberts.
So sad to learn of the passing of Monica Roberts. She was a staunch advocate, fearless writer, and all around great lady. She will indeed be missed.
From my time in the Texas Legislature till now as Mayor, Monica Roberts walked each hall of government with professionalism, grace, and toughness to ensure transgender individuals and everyone in the LGBTQIA+ community were not forgotten and overlooked.
Each time I saw Monica at events, you could not miss her strong confident stature and she was not shy to call things as they were because she was passionate about who she was advocating and fighting for. In May 2019, I was honored to introduce and present Monica with the Barbara Jordan Breaking Barriers Award.
Tonight, our city pauses to remember the impact Monica has made upon our city. I will personally miss her and am grateful for the friendship we developed over the years.
Our city continues to embrace everyone no matter where they come from, what their background may be, and we continue to be a place of hope and opportunity for all. I extend my condolences to those who were close to Monica and we will continue to march, fight, and speak up for the equal rights of all.
Rest in Peace to Monica Roberts 💔
Ms. Monica Roberts was a celebrated transgender human rights activist, journalist and a woman who pioneered accurate pronouns and gender identity of transgender people in media- in a time when it was socially acceptable to mislabel, misgender, and dead name transgender people in media.
She was also a celebrated archivist of transgender culture- and so much of her labor was the influence of our work in founding the world’s first transgender district. without her labor in giving our community digital access to transgender cultural artificers over the last 500- so many of us would not know how our rich our history, our culture, and our presence is.
One of her life’s efforts was in serving as a founding board member of @blacktranscoalition ‘s Black Transwomen Inc – a national black transgender women advocacy project. Learn more about her and her lifelong commitment to liberation of transgender people by subscribing to their platform, and reading her writings on her website, TransGriot, where she documented the stories and lives of transgender history for almost 2 decades.

I am reading so many posts on social media saying the same as mine; that Monica Roberts helped them to be themselves through her amazing blog @TransGriot, she will leave a gaping hole in the #trans communities but will live on in the way we live our lives
