Five months after Miegellic Young a 4-year-old body was discovered in the backyard of a Charlotte home, the autopsy report has been released by medical examiners.
From the autopsy results, there are two conclusions; Miegellic was facing malnutrition, but her cause of death was unknown.
In May 2021, Miegellic’s body has been found behind her Bearden Drive after several months of searching.
Malikah Diane Bennett, her mother was then charged with murder, also Tammy Taylor Moffett, 53, was charged in accomplice to conceal Miegeillic’s death.
Two days after Young’s body was found, it was then examined by a Mecklenburg County medical examiner on May 24, 2021. Then the final report was released on Oct 11, 2021.
The final report says, Miegellic’s body was found nestled within several black plastic bags, and her body was already in an advanced state of decomposition.
As the examiner’s report continues, it was then noticed that Miegellic appeared to have suffered malnutrition. The report notes a clump of hair was found in her bowels, which is deemed a sign of disordered eating.
Officials have now tagged Miegellic’s death a homicide after rigorous research.
CMPD Lt. Bryan Crum has concluded that Miegellic’s death is due to an “abusive environment.”
