Michael Stokely Obituary – Death: “Today, Georgia State Route 81 in Loganville, Georgia, was rededicated to Master Sgt. Mark Allen and Sgt. Michael Stokely. The highway was dedicated to Stokely after he was killed in action in Iraq in August 2005. Allen died this day two years ago in 2019 as a result of wounds he sustained in July 2009 while deployed to Afghanistan. The route was rededicated today to include Allen. Both Stokely and Allen were residents of Loganville and served together in the 48th IBCT. They, and all our fallen Volunteers and their families, will always be in our thoughts and will never be forgotten. “Send me!”
Michael Stokely, a well-known US Army sergeant from Loganville, Georgia, was killed in the line of duty in August 2005.
Stokely was a member of the 48th Infantry Brigade Combat Team. He was also a member of the Georgia Army National Guard.
