Michael James Clayton Death – Michael James Clayton, 33 years old, a resident of Des Moines, was stabbed to death on Saturday night, and detectives with the Des Moines Police Department have identified him as the victim. After discovering Jason Gene Parker, age 28, in a nearby property early on Sunday morning, the police charged him with first-degree murder and took him into custody. At around 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, members of the fire department and police officers were dispatched to the 3200 block of 30th Street to investigate a report of a stabbing that had taken place there.

A police news release states that they located Clayton and transported him to a hospital, but he ultimately succumbed to his injuries and passed away there. According to the police, Parker attacked Clayton with a knife that was later discovered at the scene of the crime. According to a news statement, there were many witnesses to the stabbing, and surveillance camera footage showed Parker fleeing the scene after the incident. This is Des Moines’ third homicide of 2023. Detectives with the Des Moines Police Department are continuing their investigation.

Following the gunshot victim’s death from his injuries in the hospital last week, authorities upgraded the accusations against the alleged shooter against him to first-degree murder. According to Sgt. Paul Parizek, a spokesman for the Des Moines Police Department, on October 22 at or around 11 a.m., police were called to reports of a car colliding with another parked vehicle. When authorities arrived on the scene, they saw that the driver, Dok Nyok Akol Dok, 22, of Des Moines, had been shot.
Dok was taken to the hospital by first responders, where he remained in serious condition until Wednesday night, when he passed away from his wounds. According to Parizek, police detained and accused 18-year-old Christopher J. Wessels, Jr. of Des Moines with attempted murder and first-degree robbery before the victim passed away. According to a tweet from the agency, a drug transaction preceded the shooting. Wessels’ attempted murder accusation was changed to first-degree murder after Dok passed away, according to Parizek. This is the fifteenth homicide in the city in 2022.
