Olathe Mayor, Michael Copeland, passed away today at the very young at the age of 58.
My heart is beyond sad and broken for his wife, Maria, his daughters, family, friends, community and world. This incredible man was a true leader and a community changer. He impacted me and so many others with his presence and leadership. When I worked in my hotel career, I served with him on the Olathe Chamber of Commerce Board and other organizations. One of my biggest honors, to this day, was speaking at the Olathe Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast. When I was done speaking, that morning, those in attendance wrote on torn edge pieces of paper. These pictures show the powerful words written from his peers and citizens of Olathe. They shared not only what they thought about Olathe, but about culture he helped cultivate in the community and the world around him. An incredible loss today. Thank you Maria for sharing him with our world. ❤️ www.thetornedge.com #olatheks #mayormikecopeland #leader #impactful #agreatman #olathemayorsprayerbreakfast #thetornedge #heART
