Mesquite police officer in Albertson shooting confirmed dead

Mesquite Police Officer shooting – Authorities of the Mesquite police say an officer with the department sustained critical gunshot injuries to the chest following a disturbance in an Albertson’s parking lot Friday afternoon has died.

The incident was reported at about1:40 p.m. in the 1500 block of South Beltline Road near Cartwright Road. Investigators say the shooting stemmed from a possible traffic stop incident. The officer and the suspect were both taken to the Baylor Hospital in Dallas in critical condition. The suspect’s current condition is not immediately known at this time.
