Sad to hear. We, as a collective, owe her more than words can say. Personally, I am forever indebted to her brilliance and wisdom, and for being a constant source of inspiration to so many generations of archaeologist. Rest In Peace Dr. Mary Beaudry.

Sad to hear the reported passing of Mary Beaudry. She was a POWERHOUSE of historical archaeology, from Highland Clearances to the Caribbean. Boots Mills is a classic case study I use in my courses. Her legacy is the generation of scholars she inspired, mentored, and created.

Deepest condolences to family, friends & colleagues of Mary Beaudry. Those who knew her were fortunate to experience her brilliance, empathy and humor (and probably have a good story or two). An inspiration for women in archaeology, and a trailblazer for scholars of foodways.

Devastated to learn of the loss of my dear friend for the past quarter of a century, Boston’s Prof Mary C. Beaudry—one of the very best in our field, dedicated to a feminist and anti-racist historical archaeology, committed to revealing unwritten lives through material culture

Mary Beaudry passed away. She was a great scholar, but also a great friend. She turned me onto some great historical fiction books and tv shows, good food, and amazing stories. Thank you for all of the dinners at Island Creek.

We are sad to hear that professor Mary Beaudry has died. She was such a fantastic scholar, her work in historical archaeology is brilliant and she was exceptionnal at telling the story of past people through the analysis of material culture. Thanks!

I was so sad to hear this morning that Mary Beaudry passed away. I had an office close to her my last couple of years at BU and she always had wild stories to tell. She was such a powerhouse in the discipline and in life; she will really be missed

Mary Beaudry was one of a kind. My 1st mentor & dear friend. Can’t imagine my life today if she hadn’t taken a chance on me when I was an untethered 18 yo. She had a profound impact on so many of us. I’m so grateful for the time I had w/her, but so badly wish we could’ve had more

Archaeology has lost an incredible scholar, mentor, and person. I did not know Dr. Mary Beaudry well, but know many who did. Historical Archaeology would not be the discipline it is without her amazing contributions.

My thoughts and love go out to the friends and family of Dr. Mary Beaudry. She paved the way for female historical archaeologists and was a brilliant scholar. Rest in power.

This morning, I’m mourning the loss of Mary Beaudry, one of my graduate school mentors. She gave so much to the discipline of archaeology, from her insightful feminist research to her critiques of sexism in the discipline to the enormous community of people she nurtured.

Typing through tears as I share the very sad news I just received that Mary Beaudry has passed away. She was my undergrad professor & I can think of few more influential teachers & researchers in Historical #Archaeology. She paved the way for so many of us.

I am heartbroken to hear of the passing of Mary Beaudry. She was a gem. A powerhouse of a scholar who was generous with that scholarship to anyone she thought she could help. I had hoped to have her company at BU for a while yet. I will miss her.

We are still working on getting more details about the death, as a family statement on the death is yet to be released.
