I am absolutely gutted… ANOTHER great human being gone far too soon… as most of you know, (who had ever met)Martin Steed (Steedie)he was a massive part of this community and some!!! if you take away his role in the town you’re left with someone who has still managed to help others, just because he wanted to… when I was a youth, Martin was always around, doing/coaching Basketball and Football helping me to get better, etc! Few years on he was helping out with general youth in the community in relation to everyday hardships… if anyone knows of my career path (from the last 20 years) this is guy is the reason!!!! Wanted to be just like you!!!!! Just can’t believe I’m writing this ffs…spoke with him on the last Funday at the west glebe and as always, was full of wisdom and guidance in amongst chatting about memories.. so glad I got the chance to tell you you were my idol, again as a reminder. “You most of been sick of hearing it from me” if I could be half the man… my heart goes out to all the family.. RIP BIG GUY and MUCH LOVE with HUGE RESPECT
The Green Room
It is with tremendous heartache that we at The Green Room learn of the passing of our co-founder Martin Steed. He was a pillar in the community, a selfless man with an incredible sense of humour. He was the most genuine person. His attitude towards his work was faultless and done with professionalism. Their was nothing that couldn’t be done. If we encountered a technical problem, he would always say “there’s ways around that” or “that can be done” with such positivity.
We will all cherish 2020 for the memories, our street shows being a highlight. In particular, we will fondly remember his ability to withstand colder temperatures in his usual shorts and T-shirt attire, dubbing himself the polar bear! The team had only known him for a couple of years but he became one of our best friends. This shows the kind of man he was. All of us here at The Green Room are devastated and our thoughts and love go to Martin’s family at this tragic time. Rest easy our friend.
