Margaret Strachan Death – Obituary | Dead – Passed Away
Margaret Strachan Death – Dead: A great loss was made known to InsideEko. As friends and families of the deceased are mourning the passing of their loved and cherished Margaret Strachan.
It is with great sadness that the Scottish Handball Association announce the passing at the weekend of our former director, Margaret Strachan, after a battle against cancer.
She has been a major part of Scottish Handball for 14 years through her work with West Lothian Handball and the SHA ever since her sons became involved in the sport. She was an ever present figure at all SHA events and matches, both junior and senior, and was an official at the London 2012 Olympics, greatly enjoying the experience.
Margaret often spent her whole day at SHA events covering the table and rarely taking a break. Always meticulously organised and well prepared for the longevity of the events with her usual supply of food and drinks to help her get through the day.
Handball has come a long way in the time Margaret was involved and we can say that it would not be where it is today without her energy and huge dedication. Handball events just won’t be the same again.
In the past couple of years with the arrival of her grandson it was a delight to see how happy she was spending time with him at our events but still always giving her time selflessly. She was one of our most committed volunteers and made a huge difference to our sport. The thoughts of the SHA and the whole Handball family are with Alan and her boys.
All of us at EK82 handball club would like to send our deepest condolences to Alan, Ross, Blair and all the other Strachan family members after hearing of the passing of Margaret Strachan.
Margaret ran events sometimes single handedly and kept everyone right. Keeping Michael in check was sometimes a full time jobl.
Blair and Ross had a passion for handball and that meant so did Alan and Margaret.
Margaret dedicated herself to Livingston handball club and Scottish handball as a board member and done a terrific job and all as a volunteer.
Scottish handball will not be the same without you.
Our thoughts are with you all at this very sad time.
It’s with sadness that we have received the news of the passing of Margaret Strachan who was battling cancer.
Her love of handball was extremely contagious. We will never forget her smile, her kindness and efforts to help the growth of our sport.

Rest in peace Margaret.
It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that all at Tryst Handball Club offer their deepest sympathies to Alan, Blair and Ross Strachan along with all at Livingston Handball club after the passing of Margaret Strachan.
Margaret has been a key figure not only in the successful development of Livingston Handball Club but also in the growth of Scottish handball and would regularly spend her weekends ensuring the smooth running of tournaments. It truly will not be the same without her
We are saddened to announce the passing at the weekend of Margaret Strachan after her battle with Cancer.
Margaret has been instrumental in the development of handball within West Lothian, helping the club grow from strength to strength. From behind the scenes admin to table officiating at matches – and everything in-between, she was an ever-present figure within the club.
In addition to her work with West Lothian, Margaret also gave up a lot of her time to Scottish Handball supporting matches/events, and as a director helping shape the direction of the sport.
Handball has come such a long way over the years, a lot of which could and would not have happened without Margaret’s hard work and dedication to the club and the sport.
The thoughts of everyone at the club are with Alan, Blair, Ross and the family at this time
