Man shot to death near 28 Street S.E. Calgary Identified

Merke Mehreteab Death – 25-year-old Merke Mehreteab has been identified by the Calgary Police Service as the victim of last week’s deadly shooting in 28 Street S.E.

According to the Calgary Police Department, the man had just moved from Edmonton to Calgary a few months before the shooting death.

Officers responded to shots fired report on Nov. 22 at about past 7:15 p.m. to the 200 block of 28 Street S.E. Arriving officers located the victim suffering from life-threatening injuries at the scene. He was pronounced dead by the responding medical team.

Preliminary investigation depicts that the suspect(s) fled the scene in a vehicle to the eastbound or westbound of Memorial Drive. Anyone with a dashcam video of Memorial Drive between Deerfoot Trail and 36 Street on Nov. 22 between 6:30 and 7 p.m., is urged to contact the police at 403-266-1234 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
