Man hurt, 3 in custody after Lauderdale Lakes shooting

Authorities say a man has been hospitalized and three persons in custody following a shooting Monday in Lauderdale Lakes.

The incident happened at about 4 p.m. in the 3700 block of NW 21st Street near the Cambridge Square Apartments. Officers responded and located a man suffering from multiple gunshot injuries at the scene. The unidentified man was transported to the hospital in unknown condition.

After investigations, three persons were located and into custody, police says.

Broward Sheriff’s deputies say a car crash report was made a few moments after the shooting near NW 34th Avenue and 7th Street.

A witness says; “I was inside my home and it sounded like a big canon went off,” she said, adding that police were actively searching in her neighborhood. “I was scared because I didn’t know what was going on,” Battle said. “I’m hearing rustling and tussling in my backyard, I don’t know what’s going on.”

Investigators are working to understand if there is a connection between the crash and the shooting.
