Man dies in bicycle accident on West Little York Road in northwest Houston

Male bicyclist killed in a bicycle accident on West Little York Road in northwest Houston, Texas

A yet-to-be-identified male bicyclist has been pronounced dead following injuries sustained from a bicycle-car accident that happened at the wee hours of Monday morning, November 28, 2021. The crash happened at approximately 2:30 a.m. at 2800 of West Little York Road, near Mayor Sylvester Turner Park in northwest Houston, Texas.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the deceased man was cycling with lights on the far right lane near a curb. At the same time, a white Toyota pickup truck driven by a man believed to be in his 20s was traveling at a high speed on West Little York Road. The car then struck the bicycle and the bicyclist drifted from the roadway and crashed into a pole close to an apartment complex.

The bicyclist sustained serious injures and was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. The truck driver and his female passenger were both transported to an area hospital with injuries but in stable condition. They both displayed signs of intoxication. According to officials, the truck driver will be charged with intoxication manslaughter.

The crash remains under investigation.
