Man dead after Wilkes Neighborhood shooting

Officials with Oregon Police Department at the East Precinct responded to shots fired report in the 1300 block of Northeast 162nd Avenue. Arriving officers located a man suffering from life-threatening gunshot wounds, the suspect fled the scene before police arrival.

As investigations surge the scene for evidence, Northeast 162nd Avenue was closed to traffic from Northeast Halsey Street to Northeast Wasco Street. The unidentified victim was rushed to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. His identity and cause of death are being investigated by the Oregon State Medical Examiner.
