Man, 20, charged in Bronx housing project shooting – Death

John Salgado Death : Authorities say 20-year-old Nelson Rivera, of NYC, is wanted for a Bronx murder and was apprehended when he paid a visit to his probation officer Friday.

Police in Bronx says Rivera was charged Thursday with murder, manslaughter, and gun possession for the shooting death of 37-year-old John Salgado. Responding officers found the victim suffering from gunshot wounds to the face, chest, and both legs outside a building at the Morris Houses on Washington Ave. near E. 170th St. in Morrisania at about 11 p.m. Saturday.

Officials say the suspect, Salgado, records show, was paroled in December 2019 after serving more than five years for a gun conviction. The Salgado was pronounced dead at the scene of the shooting.

The motive behind the shooting was not immediately released.
