RIVIERA BEACH — A 24-year-old man died Monday night in a shooting in Riviera Beach, city police said Tuesday. Investigators identified the man as Malyk Goncalves but did not report a place of residence. According to a police statement, officers responded at about 8 p.m. Monday to the 1600 block of Avenue S, south of Blue Heron Boulevard and Suncoast High School, after the city’s ShotSpotter gunfire-detection system recorded multiple shots in the area.
They found Goncalves inside a vehicle with apparent gunshot wounds. Rivera Beach Fire Rescue drove him to a hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. Detectives are pursuing active leads in the case.
