Authorities have identified a victim who was shot and killed on Thursday morning 7th of October 2021. Louis Vignone, a mail carrier is the victim who was murdered, according to the police.
Louis was found dead in his postal vehicle, shot multiple times, including one shot to the head.
Officials have announced the suspect in the shooting to be Eric Kortz.
It happened that Mr. Kortz shot Mr. Vignone because he thought Mr. Vignone and Vignone’s family had poisoned him and his family with cyanide when they previously were neighbors.
Mr. Vignone was wearing his postal uniform and working his regular shift as a carrier when he was killed, according to U.S. Postal Inspector Erik Bohin, as written in an affidavit.
Some minutes after the shooting, Mr. Kortz arrived at the Carnegie police station and “stated that he shot someone and wanted to turn himself in,” according to the affidavit.
Officials found a gun and seven spent shell casings in a yard near the vehicle.
Mr. Kortz was taken to the county police headquarters, where he said he shot Mr. Vignone, according to the affidavit.
Kortz is charged federally with killing a postal carrier and using a gun during a crime of violence.
